Our Allies

In 2012, CHN forged a ground-breaking collaboration with the Association of Black Psychologists (ABPsi).

CHN was introduced to ABPsi by our board member, clinical psychologist Dr. Wizdom Powell Brown. We sought ABPsi’s help in making sure that our Emotional Emancipation Circle (EEC) process was psychologically sound, evidence informed, and culturally grounded. Incoming president Dr. Cheryl Tawede Grills responded enthusiastically to our request, as did her predecessor Dr. Benson Cooke, and her successors Dr. Daryl Taasogle Rowe, Dr. Kevin Washington, and Dr. Huberta Jackson Lowman. They have provided research, advice, counsel, and training to help us establish an international grassroots network of EECs and Dr. Grills has travelled the world as our lead EEC trainer.

Through ABPsi, CHN has established alliances with other Black psychological associations in the Caribbean, Ghana, Cuba, the United Kingdom, and South Africa.

We are also a member of the Institute for the Black World’s Black Family Summit, an alliance of more than 40 national and international Black organizations.
